Come, Meet Our Staff
We are the staff of AdvancedPoetry. Between us we have a plurality of experience, and most of what you read on this site was written by us. We are also the people who do the rigorous review of all poetry submissions, and we invite you all to submit your own. But please don't be disappointed if what you submit is not advanced enough for AdvancedPoetry.
Chamomile Humperdinkly
A dancer and a poet, Chamomile combines these talents into dance poetry where he dances and recites poetry at the same time. He has spent his entire career perfecting this art form. He credits Lobo's "Gus the Dancing Dog" as the inspiration for his career. The sophisticated poetic lines of the song along with the emphasis on dancing provided the spark that sustains and motivates Chamomile to this day. Always in great demand, he has appeared on television shows including Ed Sullivan, American Bandstand, Soul Train, Solid Gold, and American Idol.
Ophelia Cumming
One of the better known advanced poets in her hometown of Bayard, WV, Ophelia brings excitement and pizazz to her art. She is energetic, cocky, confident, angry, vicious, demanding, demeaning, condescending, nasty, raucous, belligerent and violent, but also very gentle and pleasant to be around. Those traits are evident in her writing. She isn't afraid to criticize others and enjoys making fun of the handicapped. Ophelia is a mainstay at the major international "battle of the poet" competitions where she is known by
her proclivity to wear Morning Breeze Stink Perfume. "It keeps me sharp and gives me the edge", claimed Ophelia in a recent BBC television interview.

Megan A. Pyle
Megan is better known as “the daughter of Gomer”. While she is proud of her father’s artistic accomplishments in acting and
voice, she has spent her career perfecting her own art form. Working with the poetic pioneer Eric Krueger, Megan developed the complex but increasingly popular interpretive moaning form of poetry. As most people know by now, interpretive moaning consists of mixing moans with pops, clicks, cymbal crashes, and nonsensical bungalingus to produce an indescribable form of poetry that heightens awareness and produces a sense of wellbeing. We are fortunate to have an artist the caliber of Megan on our staff.

Gern Blensdon
A real man's man, Gern comes to Advanced Poetry after a diverse career of physically demanding jobs. After serving time in the Navy, he transitioned to civilian life as a longshoreman. While terrifying, that position provided him with the necessary skills to obtain his dream job as a pile driver. A world-renowned poet, Gern has been recruited by all the big poetry houses since his high school days. Advanced Poetry was able to pull him away from full-time pile driving with an offer of complete creative freedom. Gern is an expert at free verse, dramatic monologue poetry.
Ian Bick
While his nickname may be “Pentameter”, he is anything but a poetry nerd. He participates in a variety of cutting edge and dangerous activities such as speed dancing, competitive dual pogo stick jumping, and a potential future X-Games activity referred to
as “rump grinding”. Fortunately for Ian he was born with a unique ability to interpret advanced poems in a form called
“Shatner-esque” (inspired by the great William Shatner’s performance of songs like Rocket Man and Mr. Tambourine Man).
He brings a sense of danger and excitement to the Advanded Poetry team.
